This thirty-two (32) page guidebook discusses youth courts as a rapidly expanding alternative to the juvenile justice system. This guidebook discusses the growth of youth courts from 78 programs in 1994, to more than 1,305 youth courts as of 2011. This bulletin was funded and published by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) within the United States Department of Justice and the American Youth Policy Forum and under the direction of Global Youth Justice’s Scott Bernard Peterson.
