15th Global Youth Justice Training

New Global Youth Justice 15th Training to Establish and Enhance a Youth Court, Teen Court, Peer Court, Student Court and Peer Jury Diversion Program in Las Vegas, USA at The Fremont Hotel and Casino this January 24-26, 2017 is already 65% filled with adults from 17 Different States and Washington, D.C.

2 New Board Members Appointed

Amanda Quinn and Kari Poss

With the successful transition of Global Youth Justice to an International Nonprofit Corporation, Global Youth Justice, Inc. will have a (15) Member Board of Directors. Only (5) of the (15) Board Members have been selected, with the remaining (10) Board Members being selected in 2017. Global Youth Justice, Inc. is pleased to announce (2) of the (5) Founding Board Members are Hawaii Teen Court Leader Amanda Quinn from YWCA Hawai’i Island and Georgia Teen Court Leader Kari Poss from Columbia County Community Connections. Kari and Amanda have attended many Global Youth Justice Trainings and met hundreds of staff involved with Teen Court, Peer Court, Student Court, Peer Jury and Youth Court. They will be at the 15th Global Youth Justice Training this 1/24-26/2017 in Las Vegas, USA and look forward to meeting more of you.

Congratulations to the new Board Members of the Washington State Association of Youth Courts (WAYC). The three (3) new Board Members are Bo Jordan, Courtney Bell and Rachel Lau. Celebrates 30th Anniversary in 2017

Director “Barbara” Celebrates 29 Years

Not only is the Putnam County Youth Court Celebrating 30 Years of Service in 2017, but the World’s Longest Serving Youth/Teen Court Director, Barbara Reitz, will Celebrate her 29th Anniversary as the Director of the Putnam County Youth Court in New York State. Congratulations to Barbara and all the amazing Youth and Adults involved with the Putnam County Youth Court. Barbara recently attended the 14th Global Youth Justice Training in Cape Cod, USA this past October 25-27, 2016, where we were reminded of her grace and collegial spirit, and especially how lucky we are to call her our longtime good friend and supporter.

In January, 2017 there will be a new expanded and updated Global Website launched by Global Youth Justice, Inc. on a record 1,600+ Youth Court, Teen Court, Peer Court, Student Court and Peer Jury Volunteer-Driven Youth Justice and Juvenile Justice Diversion Programs. Registration opens on January 1, 2017 for the 16th Global Youth Justice Peer-to-Peer Training on Youth Court, Teen Court, Student Court, Peer Court and Peer Jury Diversion Programs. The Agenda will comprise more than (25) Presentations by Adult Participants who volunteer to make peer-to-peer presentations. In 2017, this will be the 7th year in a row Global Youth Justice has convened this popular training at the Provincetown Oceanfront Resort and Conference Center on the tip of Cape Cod. Start planning, saving, and making plans to attend on your own or with a team of 2-5 adults from your community. Registration Opens January 1, 2017




New Hampshire Teen Court Leader Nicole Rodler works at the Rochester Police Department where she is making a difference as the director of the highly regarded Teen Drug Court at the Police Department. Not only is Nicole a local and state leader on Teen Court, but she continues to demonstrate leadership, commitment and integrity as Chairperson to the Excellent New Hampshire Court Diversion Network. From serving on the Rochester Police Benevolent Association, helping plan a NH State Court Diversion Conference and helping Champion Teen Court in New England, Nicole is a Shining Star in the Global Youth Justice Movement taking hold around the Globe.

National Restorative Justice Leader


Don Carney has worked in the fields of Juvenile Justice and Social Justice for 40 years. In 2004 he became Director of the highly regarded Marin County Youth Court in California, which is one of, if not the Leading Youth Court in America effectively utilizing Balanced and Restorative Justice Principles and Practices at various stages of a Youth Court Diversion Program.

Western NY Youth Court Summit

Both Western, New York and Long Island, New York are 2 excellent examples where Adult Youth Court Leaders are joining together in geographically large states for purposes of creating more opportunities.

One recent example is Youth Courts in the Western Region of New York hosted the 5th Annual Regional Youth Court Summit on September 19, 2016 in Clarence, NY. The summit offers the opportunity for adults and youth across the Western Region to come together and participate in teambuilding activities and interact with volunteers from other courts, as well as learn about how other courts operate. Approximately 40 youth and coordinators were in attendance at this event, with 10 Youth Courts represented. Janet Reno, 1st Woman to Serve as U.S. Attorney General Dies at Age 78 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. The late U.S. Attorney General was not only the 1st Female U.S. Attorney General, but also the 2nd Longest Serving U.S. Attorney General, behind former U.S. Attorney General William Wirt, who was the 9th Attorney General and Served from November 13, 1817 – March 4, 1829.

U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno is credited with launching and funding the 1st Federal and National Effort on Youth/Teen/Peer/Student Court Diversion Programs, when she hired Global Youth Justice CEO Scott Peterson in 1997 to Launch both the 1st Federal and National Effort on these programs. A record 1,600+ plus communities around the Globe on 4 Continents now operate one of these rapidly expanding cost-effective volunteer-driven Juvenile Justice and Youth Justice diversion programs to reduce the incidence and prevent the escalation of juvenile crime and incarceration rates.

On November 10, 2016, the Arizona Teen Court Association Celebrated their 10th Teen Court Summit at the State Capitol in Phoenix Arizona.

Arizona Teen Court Leaders and Supporters included Charlsie Cordova, Pamela Neal, Kate Spaulding, Susan Nusall, Jennifer Urban, Patti Snee, Michael Garcia, Megan Baty, Jaime Sandoval, Alissa Williams, Gary Egbert, Deepika Padmavati and more than 200+ youth and adults were in attendance.
